Ledger has introduced Ledger Flex, the company’s latest hardware wallet, at the Bitcoin 2024 convention in Nashville today. The new product offers a secure E Ink touchscreen powered by Ledger’s Secure OS and NFC connectivity in order to enhance usability without compromising security.
Built on Ledger’s legacy of secure hardware, Ledger Flex comes with the iconic black and steel motif, according to a press release from Ledger. The company also introduced a special Ledger Flex BTC Edition at launch.
With the high-resolution, 2.8-inch display, the wallet ensures clear visibility for approving transactions and logins, while E Ink technology delivers exceptional battery life – lasting for weeks or even months on a single charge, Ledger stated.
Ledger Flex is Ledger’s second new product this year, following the earlier release of Ledger Stax which features the world’s first curved E Ink display.
“By launching both Ledger Flex and Ledger Stax this year, we’re redefining the experience of self-custody. Ledger devices already secure more than 20% of the world’s digital assets, and our new secure touchscreen category will make self-custody more accessible than ever before for more consumers and enterprises,” said Pascal Gauthier, Chairman & CEO of Ledger.
Flex, priced at $249, is one of the company’s more premium offerings, positioned above its Nano series but below the $399 Ledger Stax. The wallet integrates with the Ledger Live app, supporting transactions across 70 blockchains and 200 dApps.
In addition to Flex, Ledger has unveiled Ledger Security Key, a new app for Ledger Stax and Ledger Flex. The app enables secure logins with Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) and Passkey capabilities, Ledger noted.
“Without a secure screen, you are not secure. Period. The easy-to-use secure touchscreens of Ledger Stax and Ledger Flex are the only truly secure touchscreens in the world, battle tested by the Donjon and third parties,” said Ian Rogers, Chief Experience Officer at Ledger.
Ledger said its Security Key app is designed to protect users’ identity alongside their digital value in a future dominated by AI and deepfakes. Ledger’s new devices offer a critical solution as “Proof of You” becomes increasingly important.
“With growing digital ownership and AI fakes, digital asset security, proof-of-humanity, and proof-of identity is more crucial than ever,” Rogers stated. “Ledger Stax and Ledger Flex are the secure touchscreens to go with the insecure touchscreen in your pocket.”
