Bayern Munich signs Ismael Saibari in €50M+ deal, highlighting football’s growing transfer economy
The blockbuster move from PSV Eindhoven reflects how traditional football's transfer market increasingly mirrors crypto's speculative pricing dynamics
FC Bayern München has officially unveiled Ismael Saibari as the club’s newest signing, completing a move from PSV Eindhoven reportedly worth between €50 million and €55 million. The 25-year-old Moroccan international arrives on a five-year contract running through June 30, 2031, joining a squad that Bayern is aggressively retooling for a run at Europe’s top prizes.
The deal and why it matters beyond the pitch
Saibari, born January 28, 2001, in Spain but representing Morocco internationally, will wear the number 34 jersey at Bayern. That choice carries personal weight: it’s a tribute to Abdelhak Nouri, his friend and former Ajax prospect who suffered a cardiac arrest during a match in 2017 and sustained permanent brain damage.
Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl and head coach Vincent Kompany were both reportedly central to getting the transfer over the line. Kompany, himself a former elite player, apparently saw something in Saibari’s World Cup performances that convinced him the attacker could slot into Bayern’s system immediately.
