Brighton reportedly tables £30M offer for Tottenham’s Luka Vuskovic
The 19-year-old Croatian defender has emerged as one of Europe's most coveted young center-backs after a standout loan spell in Germany
Brighton & Hove Albion have reportedly made a £30 million offer to sign Luka Vuskovic from Tottenham Hotspur, a move that would represent a significant premium on what Spurs originally paid for the Croatian teenager.
Vuskovic, who turned 19 in February, has rapidly become one of the most talked-about young defenders in European football.
A season that changed everything
Vuskovic spent the 2025-26 season on loan at Hamburger SV, where he earned a spot in the Bundesliga’s Team of the Season.
Spurs originally signed Vuskovic from Hajduk Split for approximately £12 million back in 2023, though his official registration with the club didn’t happen until 2025 due to FIFA’s regulations around signing minors. The gap between that initial fee and the reported £30 million bid from Brighton tells you everything about how quickly his stock has risen.
Tottenham reportedly value the player north of €50 million. If that internal assessment holds, Brighton’s offer would fall well short of what it would take to pry him away from north London.
The complicated Tottenham-Brighton dynamic
This reported bid lands in the middle of an already tangled transfer relationship between the two clubs. Tottenham have been pursuing Brighton defender Jan Paul van Hecke, with bids reportedly reaching around £70 million, only to be rejected.
Tottenham’s long-term play
Rather than entertaining bids, Tottenham are reportedly looking to reward Vuskovic with an improved contract running through 2030.
The club is also weighing another loan arrangement, potentially keeping Vuskovic in the Bundesliga for another season.
Bayern Munich have also been linked with the Croatian, which further complicates any potential deal.
Born on February 24, 2007, Vuskovic won’t turn 20 until next year.
