Canaan Inc., a crypto mining equipment manufacturer, launched a 3MW pilot project in Manitoba, Canada, repurposing waste heat from Bitcoin mining to heat a tomato greenhouse.

The initiative, developed in partnership with Bitforest Investment, deploys 360 liquid-cooled servers and targets 90% energy conversion to heat.

The project marks Canaan’s entry into heat recovery applications for its mining hardware in agricultural settings.
