Palihapitiya founded 8090 Labs in January 2024 to build AI coding tools for corporate software teams.

Its main product, Software Factory, is designed to help developers move beyond experimental prototypes and build production ready applications with enterprise controls including audit trails.

Palihapitiya also announced that he will become the company’s CEO after previously serving as a board member.

He compared the current AI expansion to the early rise of social media, when he worked as an executive at Facebook.

Palihapitiya said the opportunity persuaded him to return to operating a company full time for the first time since leaving Facebook.
