Chelsea values Alejandro Garnacho at €50M as club pushes permanent deal
The Blues are seeking a straight sale for the Argentine winger after a disappointing debut season, with Barcelona among interested parties
Chelsea has slapped a €50 million price tag on Alejandro Garnacho and is actively working toward a permanent transfer, shutting the door on any loan arrangements.
Garnacho arrived at Stamford Bridge from Manchester United in August 2025 for a reported £40 million plus a 10% sell-on clause. His impact was minimal during his debut campaign, and Chelsea’s willingness to part ways reflects how quickly the calculus can shift in modern football.
The deal structure and what Chelsea wants
Chelsea’s approach here is straightforward: permanent bids only. The club has reportedly omitted Garnacho from its “not for sale” list.
The €50 million valuation represents a premium over what Chelsea paid. Chelsea bought Garnacho for £40 million (approximately €47 million at the time) and is now asking for €50 million. The sell-on clause owed to Manchester United complicates the math. United would be entitled to 10% of any sale, meaning Chelsea’s net return on a €50 million deal would be closer to €45 million.
As of early July 2026, Garnacho has reportedly missed pre-season training amid the swirling transfer speculation.
Why Garnacho’s Chelsea stint fell flat
Garnacho himself is reportedly open to leaving. He had previously expressed a desire to join Chelsea in the first place, which makes the willingness to depart after just one season all the more striking.
Who wants Garnacho and what it means for the market
Multiple European clubs have shown interest in acquiring the Argentine winger, with Barcelona among the notable names circling. Teams from the Saudi Pro League have also been linked. Formal negotiations haven’t commenced as of early July 2026.
The 10% sell-on clause owed to United means Chelsea needs to clear at least €44-45 million after the clause to avoid booking a loss on the original transfer, which means the €50 million figure has less cushion than it appears.
