Newcastle United agrees to sign Bazoumana Toure from Hoffenheim
The Premier League club reportedly reaches a deal for the 20-year-old Ivorian winger after beating out several top English rivals
Newcastle United has reached an agreement with TSG Hoffenheim for the transfer of Bazoumana Toure, the 20-year-old Ivorian winger who became one of the Bundesliga’s most sought-after young talents over the past 18 months.
The deal caps a rapid rise for a player who only arrived at Hoffenheim in February 2025 for roughly €14 million plus €2 million in add-ons, and now commands a price tag in the neighborhood of €50 million.
A crowded race narrows to one
Toure’s emergence in the Bundesliga drew attention from some of the biggest names in English football. Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Brentford, and Aston Villa were all linked to the left winger during the summer 2026 window.
Hoffenheim reportedly set an asking price in the €35-55 million range, with indications that any final agreement would land around the €50 million mark. Toure’s contract with the German club runs through 2029, giving Hoffenheim leverage to hold out for a premium fee. His market value has been listed at €40 million, so the final price represents a healthy markup above that valuation.
From Hammarby to the World Cup
Born on 2 March 2006, Toure made the leap from Swedish club Hammarby IF to the Bundesliga at just 18 years old. He racked up 43 appearances for Hoffenheim, a number that speaks to both his talent and his durability at an age where many players are still fighting for reserve team minutes.
His club form earned him international recognition. Toure represented the Ivory Coast at the 2026 World Cup, an experience that adds another layer of maturity to a player who is still only 20 years old.
