Romelu Lukaku was officially named to Belgium’s 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup on May 15, 2026, by coach Rudi Garcia. The selection marks Lukaku’s fourth appearance in the tournament, following his participation in the 2014, 2018, and 2022 editions.
Despite being limited to just five Serie A appearances for Napoli during the 2025-26 season due to injuries, Lukaku retains his place in the squad. He remains Belgium’s all-time leading goalscorer with 90 goals in 124 international caps. Lukaku has returned to Belgium for conditioning work ahead of the tournament.
Kevin De Bruyne, Thibaut Courtois, and Axel Witsel were also named to the squad, each selected for their fourth World Cup. The 2026 tournament will be hosted across Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
