Jeff Bezos’s AI lab raises $12B in Series B at $41B: Report

The startup is building AI systems designed to help engineers develop and manufacture physical products more efficiently.

Jeff Bezos-led AI laboratory, code-named Project Prometheus, has secured $12 billion in Series B funding at a $41 billion valuation, marking one of the largest private financings in the AI sector, Axios reported Thursday.

The firm is developing AI tools designed to help engineers bring physical products to market faster by streamlining design, prototyping and other pre-production processes.

Rather than focusing on robotics or factory automation, Prometheus is targeting engineering workflows that determine how products are conceived and built.

Company leaders said their long-term goal is to develop an “artificial general engineer” capable of accelerating innovation across manufacturing, aerospace, healthcare and other industries.

Prometheus employs around 150 people and operates independently of Amazon and Blue Origin, though Bezos indicated the latter could benefit from its technology.

The funding round attracted investors including JPMorgan, BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, DST Global and Arch Venture Partners, with Bezos remaining a major backer.
