Real Madrid targets Michael Olise as Bayern Munich holds firm on €200M-plus valuation
The French winger's value has more than tripled since his €60M move from Crystal Palace, and Europe's biggest clubs are circling.
Bayern Munich has drawn a line in the sand, and it runs right through Michael Olise’s future. The German club values its French winger at north of €200M and has made clear it has no intention of selling, regardless of what Real Madrid or anyone else puts on the table.
Real Madrid, however, doesn’t appear to be taking the hint. The Spanish giants have reportedly positioned Olise as a primary transfer target, with bids ranging between €150M and €165M already floated between April and June 2026. Some reports suggest the club is willing to push beyond €200M, potentially as high as €220M, to pry him loose from the Allianz Arena.
A price tag that tells a story
Here’s some context for what’s happening. Olise joined Bayern Munich from Crystal Palace for approximately €60M in 2024. His market value, according to Transfermarkt, now sits at around €200M. That’s more than a threefold increase in roughly two years.
For comparison, the most expensive transfer in football history remains Neymar’s €222M move to PSG back in 2017. If Real Madrid ends up paying north of €200M for Olise, it would approach or potentially surpass that record, a benchmark that has stood for nearly a decade.
Bayern’s executives have publicly recognized him as a vital member of the squad. And unlike some high-profile transfers where a release clause provides a clear exit ramp, Olise’s contract at Bayern contains no such mechanism. That gives the selling club enormous leverage, or more accurately, the ability to simply refuse to sell.
The post-World Cup chess match
The timing of all this matters. As of early July 2026, following the World Cup, Olise reportedly requested a meeting with Bayern Munich to discuss his future.
Real Madrid isn’t the only club watching this situation closely. PSG and several Premier League clubs have reportedly made inquiries as well, though none appear to have pursued the matter with the same intensity as Real Madrid. The Spanish club’s interest has been amplified by endorsements from Real Madrid legends, with one reportedly stating, “I would buy Olise tomorrow.”
Why this matters beyond the pitch
Bayern Munich paid €60M for Olise just two years ago. If they were to sell at €200M or above, they’d be booking a profit of at least €140M on a single player transaction.
