Russia warns US to evacuate citizens from Kyiv ahead of planned strikes on ‘decision-making centers’

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on May 25 with a blunt message: get your people out of Kyiv. The Russian Foreign Ministry followed up with a public statement advising all foreign diplomatic personnel and citizens in the Ukrainian capital to leave “as soon as possible.”
The reason, according to Lavrov, is that Russia intends to strike what it calls “decision-making centers” and defense industrial sites in Kyiv. Moscow framed the planned escalation as retaliation for Ukrainian military operations against Russian territory.
