Game firm Studio369 has raised $5 million in funding to advance the development of its groundbreaking MetalCore, a game project centered around an open-world, player-versus-player (PvP) mech combat and Web3 experience, VentureBeat reported on Tuesday.

This funding round saw the participation of several key blockchain players, including Bitkraft Ventures, Delphi Digital, Sanctor Capital, and Spartan Group. Studio369 will direct the new funds toward the continued development of MetalCore, according to Matt Candler, CEO of Studio369. Candler shared that the fresh funding would play an important role in the further building of MetalCore.

“We are excited to see that some of the most prominent companies and influencers in gaming continue to share and support our vision of MetalCore. The additional funding will help us hone and sharpen MetalCore even further to deliver the most fun, engaging, and awesome experience,” said Candler.

According to Studio369, one of the exciting features planned for MetalCore is an AI-powered “dynamic mission system” that ensures each mission is different, from tasks to objectives. The team aims to create unique and ever-changing missions for players, making the game more replayable and engaging.

The latest development follows a recent playtest in February, which was only accessible to invited players. Now Studio369 is setting its sights on launching an open beta test within the next few months to let a wider audience participate in MetalCore.

As the first open-world mech combat game built on Web3, MetalCore throws players into massive battles for control of territories on a resource-rich alien planet. The game has been developed by a team of game industry veterans from Activision, Lucasfilm, Midway, and Disney, among others.

MetalCore previously raised $15 million in an undisclosed financing round in March 2022, with support from BITKRAFT Ventures, Delphi Digital, Immutable Capital, and other investors. It also won the GAM3 2022 Award for Best Shooter Game.

Disclosure: Some investors in Crypto Briefing are also investors in Sanctor Capital.
