G2 Esports re-signs bot laner Hans Sama through 2028

The French League of Legends star locks in one of the longest contract extensions in competitive esports, signaling G2's commitment to roster stability

Steven “Hans Sama” Liv isn’t going anywhere. G2 Esports has confirmed that its bot laner has signed a contract extension keeping him with the organization through the end of the 2028 season, a deal that adds roughly two years to his previously scheduled departure date.

The 25-year-old Frenchman originally joined G2 ahead of the 2023 season. His prior contract was set to expire on November 16, 2026, according to the League of Legends Global Contract Database. Now he’s committed through 2028, making this one of the more substantial long-term deals in competitive League of Legends.

G2 is locking down its core

Hans Sama’s extension isn’t happening in isolation. His teammate SkewMond also extended his contract to 2028 earlier in 2026, giving G2 two key pieces of its roster locked in for the foreseeable future.

Other G2 players, including top laner BrokenBlade and support Labrov, are reportedly in discussions regarding their own futures with the team.

What Hans Sama brings to the table

Born on September 2, 1999, Hans Sama has been a fixture in professional League of Legends for the better part of a decade. The French player built his reputation as one of Europe’s premier bot laners before his move to G2, and his tenure with the organization has only cemented that standing.

What this means for the esports landscape

Multi-year deals extending through 2028 are still relatively uncommon in League of Legends esports. Most contracts run for one to two years, with organizations preferring flexibility over long-term commitments.

The risk, of course, is performance decline. Players in their mid-to-late twenties in esports don’t always maintain their mechanical edge. Hans Sama will be 29 by the time this contract expires.
