Coinbase controls 5% of Bitcoin’s total supply: Arkham Intel

Coinbase is the largest identified Bitcoin custodian, holding about 970,000 BTC on behalf of customers and institutional clients, according to blockchain analytics firm Arkham Intelligence.

Other major custodians include Binance and Fidelity, while asset manager BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF holdings are also largely held in custody for investors.

More than 15 years after Bitcoin’s creation, Satoshi Nakamoto is still believed to be the crypto asset’s biggest holder, with roughly 1.1 million BTC accumulated through early mining rewards. At current prices, those holdings are worth about $70 billion.

Separately, companies and governments hold large amounts of Bitcoin in their own right. Strategy owns about 847,000 BTC as part of its treasury strategy, while the US government controls around 328,000 BTC obtained through law-enforcement seizures.
