Nvidia leads key themes at Computex 2026 AI tech showcase
Jensen Huang's keynote kicks off a week of AI infrastructure reveals in Taipei, with zero crypto announcements on the agenda.
The world’s most important AI chipmaker is about to take over Taipei. Nvidia has embedded its GTC Taipei conference directly into Computex 2026, running June 1 through 4 at the Taipei International Convention Center, while the broader expo spans June 1 to 5.
Computex 2026’s theme is “AI Together,” positioning itself as a full-spectrum showcase for computing, robotics, and next-generation technology, with Nvidia sitting squarely at the center of the action.
Huang’s keynote and the “Five-Layer Cake”
Jensen Huang, Nvidia’s CEO, is expected to deliver a keynote on June 1 outlining the company’s strategic framework for AI development. The centerpiece is what Nvidia calls its “Five-Layer Cake” model, a conceptual stack that spans everything from energy and infrastructure at the base to applications at the top.
The keynote will also spotlight three categories of AI that Nvidia is betting heavily on: agentic AI, physical AI, and what the company calls “AI factories.” Agentic AI refers to systems that can act autonomously on behalf of users, making decisions and executing tasks without constant human oversight. Physical AI covers robotics and real-world machine intelligence. AI factories are essentially purpose-built data centers optimized for training and running large AI models.
Hardware on display
The Vera Rubin NVL72 is a rack-scale supercomputer designed for next-generation AI workloads. Jetson Thor targets edge AI, which means running AI models on devices closer to where data is generated rather than shipping everything back to a cloud data center. Applications range from factory robots to autonomous drones to smart retail systems. Then there’s Alpamayo, Nvidia’s autonomous vehicle platform.
The Computex 2026 Best Choice Awards will recognize Nvidia’s innovations across AI factories and edge AI technologies. GTC Taipei sessions have reportedly sold out, with livestream options available for those who couldn’t secure a spot.
The partner ecosystem and Taiwan’s role
Partner showcases include AIC, which is collaborating with Nvidia on AI storage solutions and infrastructure, and VAST Data, focused on next-gen data storage for AI workloads. Keynote speakers beyond Huang include executives from Qualcomm, MediaTek, and Foxconn, all focusing on AI scaling and related technologies. The presence of MediaTek and Foxconn underscores a recurring theme at this year’s Computex: Taiwan’s semiconductor industry and supply chains will be focal points for discussion.
Huang’s visit to Taipei also highlights the increasing demand for next-generation AI systems, particularly the Vera Rubin architecture.
What this means for crypto investors
This edition of Computex will not include any announcements related to crypto integrations. Nvidia’s full commitment to AI validates the thesis that computational infrastructure is the defining investment theme of this decade. The complete absence of crypto from the agenda suggests a deliberate strategic pivot toward AI as the company’s primary growth story.
Investors watching AI-adjacent crypto tokens should pay close attention to the specific technologies Nvidia showcases at GTC Taipei. Agentic AI and edge computing are two areas where decentralized networks could theoretically compete with or complement centralized solutions. With Qualcomm, MediaTek, and Foxconn all presenting AI-focused strategies, the market for AI compute is getting more crowded.
