Nvidia appoints Nicholas Parker as EVP of worldwide field operations
Ajay K. Puri will retire after more than two decades at the chipmaker, handing off a role that oversees Nvidia's global sales engine during the AI boom.
Nvidia is making a change at the top of its global sales operation. Ajay K. Puri, the company’s executive vice president of worldwide field operations, will retire on August 24, 2026, with Nicholas Parker stepping into the role on the same date.
Puri’s two-decade run at Nvidia
Puri joined Nvidia in 2005 as senior vice president of worldwide sales. Before that, he spent 22 years at Sun Microsystems. He was promoted to executive vice president of worldwide field operations in 2009. That title covers global sales, business development, and partner alliances.
As of Nvidia’s February 2026 regulatory filing, Puri was listed as EVP at age 71.
Why the timing matters
There is very little public information available about Parker’s background or how Nvidia selected him for the role. No detailed press release, no regulatory filings outlining his prior experience, and no public statements from Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang about the succession.
The announcement gives more than a year of lead time before the handoff takes effect. No interim arrangements or additional executive changes were announced alongside the news.
What this means for the AI supply chain
The EVP of worldwide field operations oversees partner alliances, which in Nvidia’s case means relationships with the hyperscalers (Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Meta), enterprise customers deploying AI at scale, and the growing network of OEMs and system integrators building Nvidia-powered infrastructure.
Investors should watch for any additional disclosures about Parker’s background and strategic vision, and whether Nvidia announces any other executive changes alongside this transition. The fact that Puri’s departure is the only change announced so far suggests stability.
