Torino plans future talks for Che Adams amid exit rumors
The Scotland international's transfer saga highlights how European football's transfer market dynamics increasingly mirror crypto's speculative trading patterns
Torino FC is entering negotiations over the future of forward Che Adams, with multiple clubs circling the Scotland international just months after he arrived on a free transfer.
The Adams situation, explained
Adams joined Torino on a free transfer on July 23, 2024, signing a three-year deal running through June 30, 2027. “Free transfer” means no transfer fee was paid to his former club Southampton, but the player still commands significant wages and now carries resale value on Torino’s books.
Torino’s sporting director Gianluca Petrachi has confirmed plans to discuss Adams’ future amid ongoing speculation. Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly exploring a move to bring the 29-year-old back to the Premier League, where he previously tallied 41 goals in 164 appearances for Southampton.
Venezia also made a play, submitting a bid in the range of €4-5 million. Torino rejected it. That rejected bid establishes a price floor, telling the market that Torino values Adams above that threshold.
Reports suggest the discussions have been positive, with Adams himself reportedly open to a potential move. But Torino holds the leverage here. The contract runs for another two-plus years, which means there’s no urgency to sell unless the right number comes along.
