Southampton opens talks to sign Iván Azón from Como for €10M
The Premier League club is negotiating a deal worth up to €10 million for the Spanish striker, continuing a trend of traditional football clubs spending big despite broader economic uncertainty.
Southampton FC is in active discussions with Italian Serie A club Como 1907 over a transfer deal for Spanish striker Iván Azón, with the price tag sitting in the range of €9-10 million.
The deal on the table
Azón, born in 2002, came through the youth academy at Real Zaragoza before making his move to Como. He’s a young forward still developing his game, and Southampton apparently sees enough upside to justify a fee approaching eight figures in euros.
Southampton’s crypto history
Southampton isn’t a stranger to the digital asset world. The club had a partnership with Sportsbet.io that ran from 2021 to 2022, which included Bitcoin-themed fan initiatives and placed the crypto betting platform’s branding prominently on matchday kits.
The club’s crypto chapter appears to be closed for now. The current Azón transfer discussions show zero connection to any digital asset initiative, token, protocol, or blockchain technology. It’s straightforward football business, funded through traditional means.
