T1 Doran reveals 2025 World Championship Ambessa skin featuring Krug reference
The top laner turned his most embarrassing LCK moment into a permanent Easter egg on his championship skin
Choi “Doran” Hyun-joon has officially revealed his 2025 World Championship skin, and it comes with a self-deprecating twist that only competitive League of Legends could produce. The T1 top laner chose Ambessa as his champion pick for the commemorative skin, and its recall animation includes a direct nod to the time he died to a Krug, one of the game’s jungle monsters, during a professional match.
For anyone unfamiliar with League of Legends jungle camps, Krugs are small rock creatures that exist primarily to be farmed for gold by players. They are not supposed to kill you. Especially not on stage. Especially not in the LCK, widely considered one of the most competitive leagues in the world.
The Krug incident and its afterlife
The moment in question happened during T1’s LCK match against KT Rolster in June 2025. Doran, playing in the top lane, found himself killed by a Krug, a jungle monster that most players dispatch without a second thought.
Doran, apparently, decided he liked it. Rather than burying the memory, he leaned into it. The recall animation on his Ambessa skin features the champion retrieving items from a trophy while a Krug watches nearby, a permanent monument to one of the LCK’s most memorable blunders.
T1’s three-peat and the skin tradition
The skin exists because T1 secured their third consecutive World Championship victory in 2025.
Riot Games has a long-standing tradition of creating commemorative skins for the winning team’s roster after each World Championship. Each player selects a champion to receive the special treatment, and the resulting skins typically reflect both the player’s signature style and personal preferences.
Doran’s choice of Ambessa, a relatively newer addition to the League of Legends champion pool, reflects his gameplay identity during the tournament run. The skin went through multiple design iterations to match Doran’s vision. He asked for vivid weapon effects and thematic elements that conveyed strength and physicality, a “powerful athlete vibe,” before Riot’s skin team landed on the final product.
Following Riot’s historical release pattern for World Championship skins, the 2025 Worlds collection, including Doran’s Ambessa skin, is projected for release in July 2026. That timeline is consistent with previous years, where skins typically arrive roughly eight to nine months after the tournament concludes.
