AC Milan’s managerial hunt and crypto strategy collide as club eyes Jaissle and Amorim

The Italian giants are juggling a coaching search with an expanding digital asset footprint, and both moves carry weight for crypto investors watching sports tokens.

AC Milan is deep in negotiations to find its next head coach. Oliver Glasner remains the leading candidate, but no deal has been finalized, keeping alternatives like Matthias Jaissle and Rúben Amorim in the conversation.

The coaching carousel keeps spinning

Glasner, the former Crystal Palace and Eintracht Frankfurt manager, sat down with Milan officials for a meeting that reportedly stretched to six hours in early June 2026. The Austrian has expressed strong interest in taking the job, and Milan clearly sees him as the primary target.

Matthias Jaissle, currently managing Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli, is considered a secondary target. The catch: extracting him from his current club comes with significant compensation demands.

Rúben Amorim has also been linked to the role. However, his candidacy has receded from discussions more recently, with the latest signals from the club suggesting Amorim has slipped down the priority list.

The vacancy opened after Massimiliano Allegri’s departure. Ralf Rangnick is also rumored to be linked with a sporting director role at the club, suggesting the new managerial appointment could be influenced by broader organizational changes under owner Gerry Cardinale.

Where crypto enters the picture

AC Milan operates the AC Milan Fan Token, known as ACM, through the Chiliz and Socios platform. Milan expanded its partnership with Bitpanda in February 2025, elevating the crypto exchange to a back-of-shirt sponsor. That deal also supported the launch of the Vision token, or VSN, adding another layer to Milan’s digital asset strategy.

Chiliz, the blockchain powering the Socios platform, has built partnerships with over 100 sports organizations globally. Bitpanda’s shirt sponsorship means millions of television viewers see a crypto brand every matchday.
