About Chiliz
Chiliz is a blockchain project built for sports fan engagement and digital fan tokens. Alexandre Dreyfus founded it in 2018, and it underpins the Socios.com ecosystem, where sports clubs issue fan tokens that supporters can buy and use. The CHZ token launched in October 2018 as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum before being integrated into the broader Chiliz ecosystem. The Chiliz Chain uses a Proof of Staked Authority consensus mechanism, where validators stake CHZ to participate in block production and network security. CHZ has three main functions: paying gas and transaction fees on the network, staking by validators to secure the chain, and acting as the base currency for purchasing fan tokens. Fan tokens give holders access to club-related votes, rewards, and interactive experiences through Socios.com. The total supply of CHZ is capped at 8,888,888,888 tokens, making it a fixed-supply asset. Chiliz operates specifically at the overlap of blockchain technology and professional sports fandom.
