About Gram (prev. Toncoin)
Gram is the native token of The Open Network, or TON, a layer-1 blockchain first tied to Telegram and now run by an open-source community. It pays network fees, supports staking and validator participation, and covers payments and services across the TON and Telegram ecosystem. Telegram designed the project in 2018 under the name Gram, then withdrew in 2020 after action by U.S. securities regulators, and the community carried the network forward. After a community vote, the token was renamed from Toncoin back to Gram in June 2026. TON uses proof of stake, with validators locking tokens to produce blocks. Supply is capped, with sources reporting a maximum near 5 billion GRAM.
