About BNB
BNB is the native token of the BNB Chain ecosystem, which Binance created in 2017. It began as an exchange token sold through an initial coin offering held in late June and early July 2017, first issued as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum before moving to its own chain. Holders use BNB to pay transaction fees, stake, vote on network decisions, and get trading fee discounts on Binance. BNB Chain reaches agreement through proof of staked authority, a design that blends proof of stake with proof of authority. The token started with a total supply of 200 million, and a quarterly burn permanently removes coins from circulation to shrink the total over time.
