About MegaETH
MegaETH is an Ethereum Layer-2 blockchain built for real-time transaction processing, targeting roughly 10-millisecond block times and more than 100,000 transactions per second. It was developed by the MegaETH team and emerged as a project by 2025, with its mainnet launching around April 2026. The MEGA token generation event and public token launch happened on April 30, 2026. MegaETH is built on the OP Stack and is fully EVM-compatible. It uses Ethereum for settlement, EigenDA for data availability, and a hybrid proof system called Kailua, which incorporates RISC Zero Groth16. ETH is the gas token on the network. The native token is MEGA, with a fixed total supply of 10 billion tokens. MEGA is used for ecosystem incentives and tokenomics rather than for gas payment. About 1.1 billion MEGA entered circulation at the TGE. Around 53.3 percent of supply unlocks only when specified network performance and ecosystem milestones are reached, not on a fixed time schedule. MegaETH is designed to support real-time, high-throughput on-chain applications like DeFi and other latency-sensitive decentralized apps while retaining Ethereum composability and security.
