Tokenized equities reached 3.77 million holders by September, even though they hold a small slice of total real-world asset value

Tokenized stocks reached 3.77 million onchain holders by September 2026, according to The Block Research. That works out to roughly 82% of everyone holding real-world assets (RWAs) on a blockchain.

The numbers behind the surge

The Block Research’s report, dated October 5, 2026, puts tokenized-stock holders at 3.77 million as of September. In other words, more than four out of every five onchain RWA holders own some form of tokenized equity.

The momentum apparently did not stop there. Later figures in the research put tokenized-stock holders at approximately 5.3 million by late October.

That later count represents nearly 82.9% of an expanded RWA holder base of 6.4 million. The share held steady even as the total pool grew, which suggests tokenized stocks are growing roughly in step with the broader category rather than fading as a share of it.

The onchain value of tokenized stocks climbed from $678 million at the start of 2026 to a peak of $3.15 billion by September.

The wider RWA market also expanded. Total onchain RWA value peaked at roughly $39.3 billion in September 2026, nearly four times its level at the beginning of 2025.

Technically, these tokens represent exposure to traditional equities but trade and settle onchain. That lets holders move them between wallets, apps, and sometimes other protocols, outside traditional brokerage hours and infrastructure.

According to the research, a handful of major platforms are doing most of the heavy lifting. Binance’s bStocks, Robinhood, and xStocks, which is associated with Kraken, are named as the main drivers of growth.

The chain picture is similarly concentrated. BNB Chain, Solana, and Robinhood Chain dominate the distribution of holders.

Why holder count and value are telling different stories

The most interesting detail is the gap between people and dollars. Tokenized stocks claim the overwhelming majority of RWA holders, yet their $3.15 billion peak is a modest fraction of the $39.3 billion total RWA market.

The research frames this as evidence that the tokenized-stock market is being buoyed by retail interest rather than institutional dominance.

What this means for platforms, traders, and the RWA sector

For the broader RWA sector, the data shows two parallel tracks. Tokenized stocks are winning on reach, with millions of holders, while other RWA categories account for most of the value.

Key signals to watch include whether the holder share stays near the 82% mark as the RWA base grows, how the $3.15 billion value peak holds up, and which of BNB Chain, Solana, and Robinhood Chain pulls ahead in hosting these assets.
