Prominent crypto exchange Bitget has joined forces with PizzaDAO to celebrate Bitcoin Pizza Day, according to a press release on Thursday. Bitget hosted a series of global events from Asia to South America to pay tribute to the historic first Bitcoin transaction.

On May 22, 2010, Laszlo Hanyecz’s purchase of two pizzas for 10,000 Bitcoins—now worth $670 million—was commemorated. Bitget’s celebrations spanned from May 19 to 22, with 20 offline events across five continents, including Brisbane, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, and Taipei meetups.

In Taipei, Bitget welcomed YouTube’s co-founder Steve Chen to join the festivities. The Australian DeFi Association and All Things Blockchain community co-hosted the event in Australia, featuring networking and discussions on blockchain trends. Sao Paulo’s event featured a partnership with Domino’s Pizza, while Buenos Aires hosted a dedicated trading event.

As part of the celebration, Bitget and PizzaDAO sponsored events in key cities like Tokyo, Madrid, Lisbon, and Zurich. This marked PizzaDAO’s 4th annual Global Pizza Party, which had over 10,000 attendees from 150 cities. Bitget’s celebrations also included a 3D video to spread the message and a special offer from Bitget India, providing 100% USDT APR for new users on Bitget Earn until June 16.

“Bitcoin Pizza Day marks a pivotal moment in the history of cryptocurrencies,” stated Gracy Chen, Managing Director at Bitget. “Celebrating this day reminds us of how cryptocurrency started from a novel concept to a revolutionary force in finance. It honors the early adopters who believed in the potential of decentralized technology and encourages us to continue exploring resourceful uses for cryptocurrencies.”
