Ledger announced today a strategic partnership with Coinbase, integrating Coinbase Pay into the Ledger Live app. This collaboration aims to enable users to directly purchase crypto on Ledger’s hardware wallets, streamlining the process for users to transfer crypto and conduct transactions from their desktop or mobile device.

Previously, crypto transfers from Coinbase to Ledger Live were complex and error-prone. With this new feature, Ledger users can directly receive crypto purchases from Coinbase on their Ledger device, retaining their preferred payment methods including ACH, Visa, Mastercard, and Maestro, Ledger highlighted in a recent blog post.

According to the company, users can buy crypto through their Coinbase account at the same cost as on Coinbase.com and withdraw it to their Ledger device in just a few clicks, without the need for additional Know-Your-Customer (KYC) procedures for existing Coinbase users. The new feature also enables instant transactions.

Ian Rogers, Chief Experience Officer at Ledger, highlighted the shared values between Ledger and Coinbase, noting the mutual focus on making crypto accessible and secure for consumers.

“Coinbase and Ledger are two of the only companies in crypto for longer than ten years, and it’s already the case that we share both values and customers,” said Rogers. “Both Ledger and Coinbase are focused on making crypto easy-to-use and keeping consumers secure. Now Coinbase users can easily buy crypto right within Ledger Live, and Ledger users can easily buy with Coinbase. Ledger is proud to give this experience to Coinbase customers and option to Ledger users through this partnership.”

Lauren Dowling, Head of Product at Coinbase Developer Payment Services, expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating:

“At Coinbase, we’ve focused on building the most trusted, scaled, and reliable onramps and infrastructure for onchain builders that expand access to crypto and help drive an updated financial system. We’re delighted to collaborate with Ledger to allow users to more seamlessly purchase crypto with Coinbase Pay straight into their self-custody solution.”

The feature is rolling out across several key markets, including the US, UK, EU, Brazil, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and Singapore.
