Sentora’s Morpho vaults face outflows after MetaMask security incident

Withdrawals hit one of DeFi's larger risk curators as MetaMask works through a staking-related security issue

A security problem at one company can drain deposits from a completely different one. The Defiant reported that Sentora’s Morpho vaults saw sharp outflows following a security incident at MetaMask.

On September 30, 2026, MetaMask disclosed an ongoing security incident tied to its staking operations. The wallet provider said user wallets faced no immediate risk.

According to The Defiant, depositors pulled funds from vaults curated by Sentora on Morpho, a lending protocol where third-party managers set the rules for how deposits get lent out.

The Defiant’s report links the outflows to the MetaMask incident by timing. It does not establish that Sentora’s vaults were technically exposed to the problem.

Sentora curated more than $1.1 billion across Morpho Vaults (V2) as of late September 2026, placing it among the largest risk managers on the platform, behind Steakhouse Financial.

Its biggest products sit on Ethereum and lean heavily on stablecoins:

  • PYUSD Main: roughly $425 million
  • RLUSD Main: roughly $414 million
  • x Spark RLUSD: roughly $250 million
  • PRIME Main: roughly $212 million

PYUSD is PayPal’s dollar stablecoin. RLUSD is Ripple’s. Sentora also runs strategies backed by real-world asset collateral, including PRIME and PST.

Why curators matter on Morpho

Morpho lets specialized curators build separate vaults with their own risk settings. A curator decides which collateral a vault accepts, how much can be borrowed against it, and which markets get the money.

Sentora has kept a clean loss record by running conservative parameters, including through Morpho-related incidents in late 2025 and early 2026.

What this means

MetaMask said wallets were not at immediate risk, and its incident centered on staking operations. Outflows from a separate protocol’s vaults show that depositors may react to the broader security climate, not just their own direct exposure.

Sentora’s top four vaults alone account for well over a billion dollars in stated deposits. Large withdrawals from any of them can push up utilization, which is the share of a vault’s deposits currently lent out. Higher utilization typically raises borrowing rates and can make it harder for the remaining depositors to withdraw instantly.

PYUSD and RLUSD are issued by PayPal and Ripple, two companies courting traditional finance users. Morpho vaults curated by firms like Sentora have become one of the places where those tokens earn yield onchain.

Watch whether Sentora’s vault totals stabilize or keep sliding in the days after MetaMask’s disclosure. Watch utilization rates on the PYUSD and RLUSD vaults, since sustained spikes would hint at liquidity strain. Also watch whether other Morpho curators, including Steakhouse Financial, report similar withdrawals.
