Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has announced a new project called Efforce, a blockchain-based marketplace to exchange tokenized energy.

After Apple, this is the second company that Wozniak has co-founded after a gap of 45 years.

The platform brings together companies who want to enhance their energy efficiency with contributors interested in being repaid in tokens representing energy savings.

Blockchain technology has been criticized for harming the environment with excess energy usage. But Efforce is different, said Wozniak.

According to the Apple co-founder, his new project will play an essential role in promoting green energy and reducing environmental damage.

“We created Efforce to be the first decentralized platform that allows everyone to participate and benefit financially from worldwide energy efficiency projects, and create meaningful environmental change,” Steve Wozniak said in a press release.

The Efforce team announced on Medium that its utility token, WOZX (named after Wozniak), has been listed on hbtc.com on Dec. 3 for trading.

Efforce is not the first blockchain project to enter the green energy space.

The platform will compete with other popular blockchain-based platforms like Power Ledger, LO3 Energy, and WePower
