Doja Cat Drops First NFTs
Doja Cat has joined the ranks of musicians launching their own NFTs.
Planet Doja, the genesis set of Doja Cat NFTs, will go live on OneOf today, followed by subsequent drops from the collection later in the week. The drop includes approximately 26,000 limited edition collectibles, with the cheapest options starting at just $5.
Today’s drop will feature gold tier Flower tokens and platinum tier Elemental tokens. Gold tier NFTs come with the chance to win a “golden ticket” to an upcoming Doja Cat concert, while the more exclusive Platinum tier NFTs come with the chance for a “VIP golden ticket” that includes concert tickets and VIP experiences.
Drops later in the week will include rarer diamond tier tokens that grant guaranteed VIP tickets and several 1/1 NFTs only available at auction.
Along with the chance to win concert tickets, all NFTs will grant access to the Planet Doja Discord community, where members can interact daily for a chance to win exclusive rewards, airdrops, and merchandise.
Announcing the launch of her NFTs, Doja Cat told fans:
“I don’t know that much about NFTs. But what I do know is that they can be bad for the environment and cost a fortune. Mine won’t. Get over to OneOf.com and check out my first NFT collection now.”
OneOf markets itself as a “green” NFT platform and is built specifically for the music community. The platform runs on the Tezos blockchain, which uses a Proof-of-Stake consensus algorithm to verify transactions. Compared to Ethereum, where most NFTs are currently created and exchanged, Tezos uses two million times less energy and has lower transaction costs.
Many musicians have begun utilizing NFTs to engage with their fans in recent months. Earlier this year, the Nashville rock group Kings of Leon became the first band to release an album as a series of NFTs. Like the Doja Cat collection, the most exclusive Kings of Leon NFTs featured concert tickets and VIP experiences.
Outside of music, Tezos is also making a name for itself as an eco-friendly blockchain for NFTs. The Formula One teams Red Bull Racing and McLaren both partnered with Tezos to launch NFTs this year, citing the chain’s low carbon footprint as the reason for choosing it.
