The Sandbox Partners With World of Women

The Sandbox is celebrating International Women’s Day with the launch of a new fund.

The leading Metaverse game has partnered with the NFT collection World of Women to launch a $25 million fund to promote women and diversity of thought in the NFT and Web3 space. Known as the World of Women Foundation, the new initiative will provide business development opportunities and support female creators through dedicated mentoring and funding.

A Medium post announcing the new development explains how The Sandbox and the WoW Foundation will encourage more female participation through a series of interactive experiences. These will involve educating newcomers to the Web3 space, giving more visibility to women-centric causes, and giving back to charities.

Yam Karkai, the co-founder and artist behind World of Women, commented on the partnership, saying:

“We are thrilled to be teaming up with The Sandbox. With this grant, we are going to establish our mission in the Metaverse, by leading and supporting women in this new space.”

As part of the collaboration with The Sandbox, World of Women will start by voxelizing all 10,000 World of Women NFTs, allowing holders to use them as avatars in The Sandbox game. Additionally, the WoW Foundation will create a museum in The Sandbox to showcase the foundation’s work.

World of Women was one of the first female-led NFT projects to gain mainstream popularity. The collection of 10,000 non-fungible tokens promotes itself as a “thriving community celebrating representation, inclusivity and equal opportunities for all.” Since the collection was released in July last year, World of Women NFTs have maintained their position as a top traded collection on OpenSea, racking up a total trading volume of over 55,000 ETH.

Last month, KPMG Canada, one of the country’s largest employers, announced it had purchased a World of Women NFT. According to Benjie Thomas, KPMG Canada’s Managing Partner for Advisory Services, the purchase reflects the company’s belief in the continued growth of NFTs and the value of World of Women and its mission.
