FC Barcelona’s Deco meets agents of Kang In Lee and Javi Guerra to discuss transfers
Barcelona's sporting director is actively working the phones and the meetings as the club eyes midfield reinforcements ahead of the summer window
FC Barcelona sporting director Deco has been holding face-to-face discussions with the representatives of midfield targets including Valencia CF’s Javi Guerra. Barcelona has also been linked to Paris Saint-Germain’s Kang-in Lee, though no confirmed meeting with Deco was recorded regarding Lee alongside Guerra.
Two very different profiles, one shared position
Javi Guerra is a 21-year-old central midfielder at Valencia CF. His asking price sits at approximately €20 million, a figure that multiple Premier League clubs have reportedly been willing to entertain.
Kang-in Lee is a 25-year-old South Korean international at PSG. He joined the Parisian club from Mallorca in 2023.
Guerra’s situation at Valencia is particularly interesting. The club has been dealing with its own financial pressures, which could make them more amenable to negotiations at the right price. For a player of his age and potential, €20 million would represent a reasonable outlay by modern transfer standards.
Deco’s broader transfer strategy
Deco met with Guerra’s representatives to communicate Barcelona’s capability to finalize a deal. The sporting director has been evaluating multiple midfield targets during the 2025-2026 transfer period, sitting down with agents for multiple players as he assesses Barcelona’s options.
For Guerra specifically, Barcelona’s interest creates competitive tension with Premier League clubs who have also been monitoring the Valencia midfielder. That kind of multi-club interest typically drives prices up, which could push the final fee beyond the reported €20 million asking price.
A move from PSG to Barcelona would represent a return to Spanish football for Kang-in Lee, who spent formative years at Valencia’s academy before moving to Mallorca and then Paris in 2023.
