100 Thieves parts ways with CS2 player Ag1l after five months on the roster
The North American esports org continues reshuffling its Counter-Strike 2 lineup as it looks to find the right formula alongside veterans rain and device
100 Thieves is cutting ties with Portuguese rifler André “Ag1l” Gil, ending a partnership that lasted roughly five months. The move signals that the organization’s return to competitive Counter-Strike 2 is still very much a work in progress.
Ag1l joined 100 Thieves in January 2026 after playing for Portuguese organization SAW, where he accumulated career earnings north of $75,000. At 23 years old, he was brought in as part of a broader roster rebuild that was supposed to mark 100 Thieves’ triumphant re-entry into CS2 competition.
What happened with 100T’s CS2 experiment
100 Thieves returned to competitive Counter-Strike 2 in late 2025 after stepping away from the scene for several years. HÃ¥vard “rain” Nygaard and Nicolai “device” Reedtz, both veterans with deep resumes in competitive CS, anchored the lineup. Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander, another well-known figure in the scene, was brought on as coach. Adding Ag1l to that mix was meant to inject younger talent alongside proven performers.
The news of Ag1l’s departure was first reported by Portuguese outlet RTP Arena on June 23, 2026. No official reason has been given for the split.
The Roobet connection and crypto’s role in esports
100 Thieves’ CS2 program operates under the branding “100T Roobet,” a result of a multi-year sponsorship deal with the cryptocurrency casino and sportsbook established in November 2025. It’s a naming partnership, meaning Roobet’s brand is literally attached to every match this team plays.
There are no crypto tokens or protocols directly tied to this roster move. But the financial infrastructure supporting these decisions, crypto sponsorship dollars flowing into esports, continues to expand.
The real question for 100 Thieves is what comes next. They’ve got rain, device, and gla1ve still in place, but finding the right complementary pieces has proven tricky.
