Capital Group’s Fundamental Investors fund adds approximately $20 million in Strategy shares
The fund bought 143,975 more shares, bringing its position in the Bitcoin-focused company to 11.65 million shares
Capital Group’s Fundamental Investors fund has added to its position in Strategy, buying another 143,975 shares. That brings the fund’s total holding to 11.65 million shares of the company formerly known as MicroStrategy.
The latest purchase is valued at approximately $20 million. For a firm that manages about $3.3 trillion, that is less a splurge and more a top-up.
The details behind the buy
Earlier in 2026, the same fund made a much bigger move. It picked up 4.32 million Strategy shares for around $747 million.
That earlier purchase lifted the fund’s position to 10.33 million shares. At the time, the stake was worth roughly $1.78 billion.
The fund now sits at 11.65 million shares. The latest 143,975-share addition alone does not cover the full distance from 10.33 million, so the position has grown in more than one step this year.
The Fundamental Investors fund is not Capital Group’s only route into the stock. The firm has disclosed Strategy positions across multiple funds.
Those include its Growth ETF, which trades under the ticker CGGR. That fund added hundreds of thousands of Strategy shares in mid-2026.

Capital International Investors, another Capital Group affiliate, holds one of the largest stakes in the company. It owned roughly 34.9 million shares as of mid-2026.
Strategy also showed up in Capital Group’s quarterly holdings disclosures as of September 30, 2026.
Why Strategy draws this kind of money
Strategy, which trades as MSTR, is technically a software company. In practice, its treasury approach focused on accumulating Bitcoin is what defines it for most investors.
Institutional ownership of Strategy stood at around 59–61.5% of shares outstanding as of June 30, 2026.
Capital Group affiliates rank among the top holders.
What this means for investors
There is also the question of what investors are actually buying. Strategy’s shares tend to be valued with its Bitcoin treasury in mind, so holders take on crypto-linked risk alongside ordinary equity risk.
The next places to look are future quarterly holdings filings from Capital Group and other large managers. Whether the Fundamental Investors fund keeps adding, holds steady, or starts trimming will say more about institutional conviction than any single headline purchase.
Watch, too, whether the Growth ETF and Capital International Investors keep moving in the same direction.
