About Geodnet

Geodnet is a decentralized Global Navigation Satellite System and space-weather data network that uses a worldwide array of mining stations to deliver centimeter-level positioning accuracy and real-time GNSS correction data. Mike Horton, Yudan Yi, and David Chen founded the project in 2021, combining navigation engineering and blockchain expertise. The network and its native token launched around 2021, initially on Polygon as an ERC-20 token, and later expanded to Solana and IoTeX. Its design combines Proof of Location and Proof of Accuracy for base-station operators with Proof of Stake for validator nodes, recording contributions on-chain and distributing rewards accordingly. The native token, GEOD, is used to pay fees for RTK correction data streams and space-weather services, reward mining station operators, and participate in governance votes over network resource allocation. The primary real-world application is supplying precise positioning corrections to robots, drones, autonomous vehicles, and other devices that need accuracy beyond standard GPS. GEOD has a fixed maximum supply of one billion tokens, and 80 percent of data revenue is used to buy back and burn tokens, reinforcing that hard cap.
