Marvell Technology is pouring $250 million into expanding its Bangalore facility, turning one of its most important international outposts into a dedicated AI development engine.

The investment targets AI technology development specifically, positioning the Bangalore campus as a critical node in Marvell’s broader push to dominate AI data center infrastructure.

What Marvell is building in India

Bangalore serves as Marvell’s headquarters in India, and it’s been the company’s primary hub for product development in the country for years. The campus recently expanded with a new office spanning roughly 100,000 square feet.

Marvell’s Indian footprint extends beyond one city. The company operates sites in Hyderabad focused on data center security and in Pune dedicated to networking solutions.

As of late 2025, Marvell’s workforce in India stood at approximately 1,700 employees. The company has set a target of 15% annual workforce growth over three years, aimed squarely at the AI and data center market.

Marvell’s India headcount has grown from a handful of engineers to over 500 in recent years, and then to the current 1,700.

Why India, why now

Marvell has been assembling a broader strategy around AI data center connectivity that includes both acquisitions and partnerships. A recent move to acquire XConn Technologies, which specializes in chiplet interconnect solutions, fits neatly into the vision of providing customized silicon for AI workloads. A collaboration with Nvidia, meanwhile, positions Marvell deeper into the AI data center ecosystem.

The semiconductor AI arms race

Marvell occupies an interesting position in the AI chip landscape. It’s not trying to out-GPU Nvidia or out-train anyone’s foundation models. Instead, it’s focused on the connective tissue of AI data centers: the networking, interconnect, and custom silicon that makes everything else work together.

The 15% annual workforce growth target in India suggests Marvell expects its AI-related revenue pipeline to expand at least that fast. The XConn Technologies deal, combined with the Nvidia partnership and the Bangalore expansion, reflects a company systematically building out capabilities to serve the AI data center market.
