About Creditcoin
Creditcoin is a blockchain network that records and matches credit transactions on a public ledger, creating credit histories for real-world lending and borrowing. The project focuses on underbanked and emerging-market borrowers. Tae Oh, Scott Hasbrouck, Sung Choi, Vladimir Kouznetsov, and David Lebee co-founded the project, with its origins going back to 2019. The network launched on April 4, 2019, according to major market listings. Creditcoin uses a Nominated Proof of Stake consensus mechanism. The 2.0 and later network design has 15-second block times with a 2 CTC block reward. The native token, CTC, is used for transaction fees and staking rewards on the mainnet. A separate ERC-20 form of CTC, also called G-CRE, exists for trading and vesting purposes. The ERC-20 CTC supply is capped at 600 million tokens, while mainnet CTC became uncapped following a change made in August 2023. The network provides on-chain credit history infrastructure intended to support lending ecosystems and give borrowers without traditional credit records a way to build verifiable financial histories.
