These deals allow the companies to use the NHL’s trademarks, such as team names and logos, in their markets.
The NHL has reached licensing agreements with Polymarket and Kalshi, a prediction market platform, the WSJ reported today.
Polymarket recently formed a strategic alliance with the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange to expand its prediction market offerings into mainstream financial distribution channels, enhancing its credibility for deals with major sports leagues.
The NHL’s move comes as sports leagues seek innovative ways to engage fans. Emerging and growing sports leagues, like the Pro Padel League, have partnered with prediction market platforms such as Kalshi to power fan engagement.
