Anthropic brings Cowork, Docs, Slides, and Design into Claude chat

The AI company is dissolving the line between chat and workspace, rolling out document and presentation tools to paid users first.

Anthropic is merging Claude Cowork and chat into a single Claude experience, allowing users to move between quick questions and larger tasks without choosing separate workspaces.

The change begins rolling out today to Pro and Max plans across web, desktop and mobile, with Team and Free plans expected to follow later.

Anthropic said Claude will now determine what a task requires and use Cowork capabilities directly inside any conversation, carrying over existing context, skills, connectors and projects.

The company is also launching Claude Docs and Claude Slides in beta on paid plans, while Claude Design is being integrated directly into conversations.

Users can ask Claude to create documents and presentations, edit them inside the app, present directly from Claude or export files as PowerPoint or PDF.

Work created through Claude Docs, Slides and Design can be accessed through a shareable link and edited from mobile devices.

Claude can also continue working after a user closes their laptop, with progress available from other devices. Tasks can be scheduled to run repeatedly, allowing recurring reports or presentations to be prepared automatically.

Anthropic said users can choose how much autonomy Claude has. By default, the assistant asks before taking actions, while another setting lets it continue working and only check in when additional review is needed.

Existing Cowork users will keep their chats, projects, artifacts, connectors and skills as the separate workspace is folded into Claude.

Enterprise customers will have separate controls, with administrators deciding when Claude Docs, Slides and Design become available.
