About Sky
Sky is the governance token of the Sky Protocol, a decentralized finance system that grew out of MakerDAO. Holders use SKY to vote on protocol changes and take part in the wider system, which includes a stablecoin called USDS, and some interfaces also offer staking rewards. The protocol came from MakerDAO's rebrand under founder Rune Christensen, with the SKY token introduced in 2024. Sky runs on Ethereum as an ERC-20 token, so it depends on Ethereum's proof of stake network. Its supply is reported at a maximum near 23.46 billion SKY, with most of that already in circulation.
