About CYBER
Cyber, previously called CyberConnect, is a decentralized Web3 social networking protocol and layer-2 infrastructure for building user-owned social applications and social graph-based decentralized apps. A team of Web3 developers founded the project around 2021, with the protocol and ecosystem launching in 2022. The CYBER token was sold publicly through a CoinList token sale in May 2023. Cyber is an EVM-compatible layer-2 network built on Ethereum and other EVM chains, using a decentralized social graph protocol secured by the CYBER token. Detailed consensus specifications beyond standard EVM and L2 architecture are not broadly documented. CYBER is a utility and governance token used for DAO voting, paying gas fees on the Cyber L2 and within CyberWallet, and covering CyberID minting fees and other in-app transactions. CYBER has a fixed total supply capped at 100 million tokens, with circulating supply in the tens of millions depending on source and date. On Cyber, users retain ownership of their social identities, content, and connections rather than ceding them to a platform.
