Bitdeer breaks ground on $36M US manufacturing site to produce 10,000 mining rigs monthly
The Jihan Wu-founded company is betting big on domestic production of its SEALMINER rigs at a new 187,000-square-foot Nevada facility
Bitdeer Technologies just put shovels in the ground on what could become one of the most important crypto mining hardware factories in the United States. The NASDAQ-listed company broke ground on July 9 on a $36 million manufacturing facility in Sparks, Nevada, designed to churn out up to 10,000 SEALMINER mining rigs every month.
For a company founded by Jihan Wu, the co-founder of Bitmain, this is a full-circle moment. Instead of relying on overseas factories, Bitdeer is bringing ASIC production to American soil.
What’s actually being built
The facility spans 187,000 square feet. Bitdeer expects to have it operational by the end of 2026, and the lease on the site from Dermody Properties was signed in December 2025.
The SEALMINER line uses proprietary ASIC chips designed in-house by Bitdeer, engineered specifically for high-efficiency digital asset mining and AI workloads.
The project is expected to create roughly 70 local jobs in the Sparks area.
Why Nevada, why now
Bitdeer’s decision fits into its vertical integration strategy: designing chips, building rigs, and running mining operations all under one roof. The company already operates data centers and high-performance computing projects across the US and Canada.
The competitive landscape
Most Bitcoin miners still buy their hardware from Bitmain or MicroBT, both Chinese manufacturers. If the Nevada facility hits its 10,000-units-per-month target, that’s 120,000 rigs annually.
The dual-use capability of SEALMINER hardware supports both digital asset mining and AI applications.
For investors watching Bitdeer’s stock (BTDR), this facility represents a shift from being primarily a mining operator to becoming an integrated hardware manufacturer. Breaking ground in July with a target of operational status by year-end leaves roughly five months for buildout, equipment installation, and calibration.
