BNB Chain to launch layer 1 blockchain for agentic trading by 2027
The blockchain behind Binance is betting big on AI-powered autonomous trading with a dedicated chain, building on an ecosystem that's already grown to 150,000 deployed agents
BNB Chain plans to roll out a new layer 1 blockchain that would support high-frequency trading, AI applications and enterprise use cases in 2027, the project said in a Wednesday blog post.
The network is currently under development. BNB Chain aims to launch a testnet by the end of the year before rolling out a mainnet in early next year.
According to the team, the network is designed to process more than 100,000 transactions per second while delivering sub-50 millisecond transaction preconfirmation, sub-one-second finality, protocol-level privacy, account abstraction and a public mempool-free architecture intended to minimize front-running.
The new layer 1 is part of BNB Chain’s H2 2026 technical roadmap, which also commits to doubling BNB Smart Chain’s throughput again following major performance gains in the first half of the year.
BNB Smart Chain has already reduced block intervals to 450 milliseconds, lowered memory finality to 650 milliseconds and nearly doubled benchmark throughput to approximately 5,200 transactions per second, with further upgrades planned to improve scalability, congestion management and enterprise adoption.
In addition, BNB Chain said it will continue expanding infrastructure for institutional users through privacy frameworks, stablecoin support, AI security tools and middleware for real-world asset and DeFi projects.
The roadmap also reiterates the project’s long-term commitment to quantum-resistant security through ongoing research into hybrid cryptography and account abstraction.
The agent economy is already here
BNB Chain recently introduced BNB Agent Studio, a new development platform created in partnership with the AWS Generative AI Innovation Center that simplifies the creation of autonomous AI agents.
Developers can build and deploy agents in roughly 15 minutes using a text prompt, with the platform automatically configuring infrastructure, identity, crypto payments, hosting and AI services.
The company said agents built through the platform can earn income, pay for their own operations and maintain persistent identities using ERC-8004 digital identities secured by users’ private keys.
