Bournemouth signs Juanlu Sánchez from Sevilla in deal worth up to €13M
The Premier League club beat out Roma, Juventus, and Bayer Leverkusen for the 22-year-old Spanish right-back
AFC Bournemouth has reached a principal agreement to sign Juanlu Sánchez from Sevilla FC for €11 million plus €2 million in performance-related add-ons. The deal brings one of La Liga’s most promising young defenders to the south coast of England, and it wasn’t cheap competition to win.
Roma, Everton, Bayer Leverkusen, and Juventus were all linked with the 22-year-old right-back before Bournemouth locked in the agreement.
What Bournemouth is getting
Sánchez, born on August 15, 2003, joined Sevilla in July 2022 on a contract that runs through June 30, 2029. He has represented Spain at the U21 international level.
His market valuation sits at approximately €10 million according to Transfermarkt, meaning Bournemouth is paying a slight premium on the base fee.
The transfer is part of a broader defensive rebuild for Bournemouth heading into the 2026-27 Premier League season. The club had previously been linked with other defensive targets, including António Silva, suggesting a deliberate strategy to fortify the backline rather than a one-off opportunistic move.
The deal still requires personal terms to be fully finalized with Sánchez. Given that the club-to-club agreement is in place and the player has been the subject of widespread interest, the expectation is that personal terms won’t present a significant obstacle.
