Cash App launches fee-free Bitcoin DCA and Bitkey wallet integration
Block's Auto Invest feature lets users stack sats on autopilot, with no fees and automatic withdrawals to self-custody storage
Block, Inc.’s Cash App is rolling out Auto Invest, a feature that allows users to schedule recurring Bitcoin purchases at zero fees and zero spread. Daily, weekly, or monthly, starting at as little as $1. The purchases can automatically route to a Bitkey hardware wallet, meaning users can dollar-cost average into Bitcoin and move it to self-custody without lifting a finger after the initial setup.
What Auto Invest actually does
The zero-fee structure is the headline here. Most platforms still charge either a flat fee, a percentage spread, or both on recurring purchases. Eliminating that cost changes the math meaningfully for small buyers, where a 1.5% fee on a $10 weekly purchase eats more than $7 annually before any price movement is considered.
Withdrawals to external wallets, including Bitkey, also carry no Cash App fees and complete within 24 hours. The minimum withdrawal sits at 100,000 satoshis, and eligible accounts can move up to $10,000 daily and $25,000 weekly.
Cash App also confirmed it maintains Bitcoin holdings at a 1:1 reserve ratio and does not lend out user assets.
The Bitkey angle
The Cash App and Bitkey partnership has been in place since June 2023, but the April 2026 product updates make the integration considerably more useful. Block unveiled a new version of the Bitkey hardware wallet that includes a screen, which addresses one of the more common complaints about the original device.
The updated Bitkey hardware wallet arrived alongside a broader set of Cash App improvements. The platform now supports automatic conversion of peer-to-peer payments to Bitcoin, offers 5% Bitcoin Back rewards, and has upgraded its withdrawal limits to the $10,000 daily and $25,000 weekly figures mentioned above. Cash App also supports Lightning Network transactions for faster and cheaper transfers.
What this means for the market
Block has been building toward this kind of integrated Bitcoin stack for years. Jack Dorsey’s conviction on Bitcoin as a financial infrastructure layer, not just a speculative asset, shows up in how these products are designed.
The 5% Bitcoin Back rewards program adds another dimension. Earning Bitcoin on purchases made through Cash App, automatically stacking into an Auto Invest position and then routing to Bitkey, creates a compounding flywheel that requires essentially no active management from the user.
