Cross River Bank brings Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin into its core banking system

Cross River Bank brings Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin into its core banking system

The partnership adds XRP Ledger transactions as a payment rail alongside ACH and wires for Cross River's fintech partners

Cross River Bank is putting a stablecoin next to the wire transfer. The bank announced a strategic partnership with Ripple on October 15, 2026, to integrate RLUSD, Ripple’s USD-backed stablecoin, into its proprietary Core Operating System.

The move also lets Cross River support transactions on the XRP Ledger.

What the integration actually does

RLUSD now joins ACH and wire transfers as an alternate payment rail. Fintech partners can reach it through a single API, the same kind of software connection they would use for traditional transfers.

A fintech using Cross River does not need to build a separate crypto setup to use RLUSD. It can pick the stablecoin rail from the same menu as the old-school ones.

The integration is designed to give partners access to instant payments, real-time settlement and cross-border services, running 24/7.

The partnership is expected to give issuers and acquirers more flexibility and reduce latency.

RLUSD’s numbers so far

RLUSD launched in December 2024 under a New York trust company charter.

The stablecoin’s market capitalization now exceeds $2.5 billion. More than $1 billion of that has been issued on the XRP Ledger, with the rest living elsewhere.

RLUSD is backed 1:1 by cash, Treasuries and cash equivalents. It operates under official regulatory oversight.

Transactions on XRPL settle in 3 to 5 seconds at nearly zero cost. The ledger has settled more than $1.3 trillion in value to date.

The broader shift toward bank-integrated stablecoins

Executives at both Cross River and Ripple have expressed confidence in expanding stablecoin capabilities.

For Ripple, the partnership extends RLUSD’s reach into regulated environments. For Cross River, it adds a faster rail to its service lineup for fintech clients without forcing them to leave the bank’s ecosystem.
