CXMT’s fifth-generation memory chip platform enters mass production, shaking up global DRAM hierarchy
China's largest DRAM maker unveils 24Gb LPDDR5X chips with 50% more capacity, backed by an $8.6 billion IPO war chest and a $3 billion Tencent deal
ChangXin Memory Technologies announced at the 2026 World Manufacturing Convention in Hefei that its fifth-generation technology platform has entered mass production, complete with two new 24Gb LPDDR5X mobile memory products targeting mid- to high-end smartphones and portable electronics.
What the G5 platform actually does
CXMT’s new G5 chips come in two package configurations: a 496-ball and a 245-ball variant. Both deliver a 50% jump in data capacity over their predecessors.
Under the hood, the platform uses quadruple patterning technology to achieve an active-area half-pitch of 11.95 nanometers. The capacitor aspect ratio hits 45:1. These engineering choices translate directly into economics: CXMT says the G5 yields at least 50% more gross dies per wafer than the previous generation.
From scrappy startup to global contender
CXMT went from producing roughly 40,000 wafers per month in 2020 to approximately 300,000 wafers per month across its 12-inch fabs in Hefei and Beijing. By year-end 2026, it aims to push that figure to 350,000 to 375,000 wafers monthly.

The company completed an IPO on Shanghai’s STAR Market in July 2026, raising approximately $8.6 billion. CXMT now claims the title of China’s largest DRAM supplier and the world’s fourth-largest by market share.
The Tencent deal and domestic demand
CXMT has secured a multi-year DRAM supply agreement with Tencent, valued at roughly $3 billion.
