FTC to sue Amazon over alleged ad-price manipulation
The agency and more than 20 state attorneys general say Amazon secretly raised minimum ad prices and collected tens of billions over seven years.
The Federal Trade Commission plans to sue Amazon on Monday, alleging the e-commerce company manipulated prices businesses paid to advertise products on its retail platform, according to agency officials cited by The Wall Street Journal.
The FTC says Amazon secretly raised the minimum price advertisers had to pay to promote products and reaped tens of billions of dollars over seven years.
More than 20 state attorneys general are expected to join the bipartisan lawsuit. Amazon operates the world’s third-largest digital advertising platform.
