The 2026 LCK Season Playoffs are underway, and the bracket is starting to crystallize into something genuinely compelling. Gen.G and Hanwha Life Esports, the two teams that dominated the regular season, now have their Round 2 opponents locked in: GEN will face KT Rolster, while HLE draws T1.
Both top seeds earned byes directly into the upper bracket’s second round, a reward for finishing atop the Legend Group standings. The real intrigue lies in the matchups they’ve inherited, and in the case of Gen.G, the matchup they chose.
Opening weekend delivered drama and dominance
The playoffs kicked off on August 29 at CHZZK LoL Park in Seoul with a best-of-five between T1 and BNK FearX. That series went the distance, with T1 scraping through 3-2.
The following day, KT Rolster made their series look like a formality. KT swept Dplus KIA 3-0.
Those results set the table for the upper bracket. Gen.G, holding the right to select their Round 2 opponent from among the lower-seeded winners, picked KT Rolster. HLE, meanwhile, will take on T1.

The lower bracket: survival mode for BFX and DK
BNK FearX and Dplus KIA now find themselves in the lower bracket, which in a double-elimination format means every series from here on out is an elimination match.
Three Worlds spots are at stake
The 2026 LCK Season Playoffs will determine which three Korean teams qualify for the League of Legends World Championship.
Hanwha Life Esports has already secured one of those Worlds berths by winning MSI 2026. That changes the calculus for everyone else, as two remaining Worlds qualification spots are available through the playoff bracket.

The playoffs run through September 13. All matches are played in best-of-five format under Fearless Draft rules, which prevents teams from repeating champion picks within a series.
