About Jito

Jito is a Solana-based protocol built around MEV-aware infrastructure and liquid staking. It operates through its JitoSOL liquid staking token and a custom MEV-optimized validator client. Lucas Bruder and Zano Sherwani founded the project in 2021 through their company Jito Labs. The governance token, JTO, launched on 7 December 2023, with an airdrop to past users and community participants. Jito runs on the Solana blockchain and inherits Solana's proof-of-stake consensus, with an MEV-optimized validator client and a liquid staking mechanism layered on top. JitoSOL lets users stake SOL while capturing a share of MEV yields. JitoSOL is a liquid staking token, separate from the governance token. The native governance token is JTO. Holders use it to vote on protocol parameters, treasury allocation, and ecosystem programs through the Jito DAO. JTO has a fixed total supply of one billion tokens. Ten percent was allocated to the initial airdrop, and the remainder is distributed across community growth, ecosystem development, core contributors, and investors under vesting schedules. Jito combines liquid staking, MEV infrastructure, and decentralized protocol governance within the Solana ecosystem.
